Gabriel R Somehow, some way, this is the film that sets up lore that is alluded to in the later films. How? I don't know. But hey, I actually kind of enjoyed it. I respect this movie for the same reason I respect Jason X. It had the balls to go to space and take itself seriously (unlike Leprechaun 4) which pays off better than I expected. The lore set up here is actually creative, and the 3 interconnecting stories are well done. It's certainly not a good movie by any means but as a fan of the franchise and genre, I enjoyed this one. Don't knock it till you've gone to space with demons Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review James L Some good ideas here and there, it tries to be original but fails while trying to do so. After watching this film you will probably realize you should have stopped watching after Hellraiser III... Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review Daniel C Different kind of story a families bloodline is at risk cause of the box. Pinhead really stands out in this movie which is great just an overall a good movie Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/02/22 Full Review guy p They attempt to give the cenobites and box an origin but do it very unsuccessfully, the addition of this make the rest of the movies make no sense, dialogue is so clumsy and the plot is so disorganized and the movie suffers because of it. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review john c This fourth instalment in the Hellraiser franchise feels both less cynical and considerably more ambitious than the dismal Hellraiser 3. However, it is still a horribly (not in a good way!) flawed piece of work. The story, though it at least tries to build upon the lore of the series rather than just have a bunch of gory kills, is a bit of a convoluted mess. The film also suffers, like many of Hellraiser's sequels, from the lack of a compelling or likeable protagonist. Overall, this is better than Hellraiser 3 (which isn't much of an achievement, ultimately) but far inferior to the first two films in the franchise. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review George M 2 bags for an ambitious plot and the character of Angelique. Had this been the 3rd movie in the franchise and had a much bigger budget without studio cuts, I think it could have been waaaay better. It still is pretty sh*tty but there were some interesting plot points in there and such, and I liked having a little lament configuration history lesson.
