payments accepted almost across the country, there might be an occasion or two when you have to pay a merchant/individual but Internet connectivity is iffy,.

What is the USSD code?
NPCI's *99# USSD code, also known as *99#, is a mobile banking platform that allows users to perform various banking transactions without the need for an internet connection. This feature is particularly beneficial for feature phone users and those in areas with limited internet access.
How to set up your phone for offline UPI payments
- Open your phone's dialler and dial *99#. This special number allows you to initiate offline UPI transactions and perform related functions.
- Once dialled, you will be prompted to select your preferred language. With 13 language options available, pick the one that suits you best.
- Following the language selection, enter the four characters of the IFSC code of your bank into the provided text field.
- Assuming you are using a smartphone for this process, the system will display options for all accounts registered with your phone number. Enter the corresponding number ( "1" or "2") to link the desired bank account and set up the offline payment process.
- To complete the setup, you will be prompted to enter the last six digits and expiry date of your debit card.
- If all the details entered are accurate, your offline UPI payment feature will be successfully activated.
How to make offline UPI payments
To make UPI payments using *99#, simply follow these steps:
- *Dial 99# from your registered mobile number linked to your bank account.
- Select your preferred language for the interactive menu.
- Choose the option for 'Send Money' or 'Transfer Money'.
- Enter the beneficiary's mobile number or virtual payment address (VPA).
- Specify the amount you wish to transfer.
- Enter your
UPI PIN for authentication. - Confirm the transaction details carefully.
- Your UPI payment will be processed successfully.
