NVIDIA late Tuesday released the latest version of its GeForce Game Ready drivers. Version 536.99 WHQL adds optimization for "Baldur's Gate 3," besides "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," and "Gord." Among the issues fixed with this release include screen-tearing and jitter noticed in cut-scenes of "Control," game stability issues with "Battlefield 2042" when applying GeForce Freestyle filters; general game stability issues when Freestyle filters are used with DLSS 3 enabled; stability issues with "Dead Space," and audio issues for Elgato Wave Link. Grab the drivers from the link below.

Game Ready

  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
  • Gord

GFE Optimal Settings

  • Exoprimal
  • Jagged Alliance 3
  • Lost Judgment
  • Portal: Prelude RTX
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Remnant 2

Fixed

  • [Control][DX12] Cut scenes and videos show tearing and partial jitter [4084000]
  • [Battlefield 2042] Game stability can decrease when applying GeForce Experience Freestyle filters. [4170804]
  • [GeForce Experience] Game stability can decrease when applying a GeForce Experience Freestyle filter in certain games while using DLSS 3 Frame Generation [4171660]
  • [Dead Space] Game stability issues [4140545]
  • Potential audio issues with NVIDIA Broadcast effects for Elgato Wave Link

Known Issues

  • [Halo Infinite] Significant performance drop is observed on Maxwell-based GPUs. [4052711]
  • [DaVinci Resolve] This driver implements a fix for creative application stability issues seen during heavy memory usage. We've observed some situations where this fix has resulted in performance degradation when running DaVinci Resolve. This will be addressed in an upcoming driver release. [4172676]

nice to know that the media websites hated on AMD for not supporting ray tracing at first, even though they fixed it in quick order... AMD got all the hate on ratchet and clank release, but nvidia has an issue huh and doesn't get any hate at all... interesting times we live in.

there was AMD hate?

Also on topic, just read recently that ManualG from nvidia confirmed the fix for RTX IO coming on the next driver release

yeah there were several articles on various sites i visit making topics about how amd messed up ratchet and clank launch cause of a ray tracing crash or w.e - i can't find any articles now cause every time i google it, all i get are the fixed articles stating the issue was fixed like 3 days later. annoying.

I can't say I agree with that, I didn't see AMD get hate, they just needed to get to the bottom of an issue requiring a new driver, people pointed that out, and a 1 week turnaround to fix wasn't really too bad at all, iirc now AMD users are waiting on the game to patch in support too.

Some people in fact managed some fun gymnastics to somehow blame Nvidia for that situation too... and Nvidia gets plenty of hate all the damn time weather rightly or wrongly deserved, so I don't quite agree with your take.

fair, but i do remember reading about AMD in a negative tone of light in some of those ratchet clank articles, i just didn't think it was deserved, since like only 5% of amd gamers even turn on ray tracing, most of us would rather have the higher frames.

Why do so many people praise Nixxes for their PC ports when they constantly have issues like this? R&C has crashes, semi working RT on NV cards, launched with no RT on radeon cards, has random unexplainable bottlenecks, buggy direct storage, spiderman had crashes, vram bugs, crazy high CPU usage, had some dlss issues etc.

Like, they make proper PC UI, settings menus and all that, but their ports seem rushed and unfinished

Just because clickbait appears doesnt mean something happened...

And what does the "game-ready" drivers means performance-wise for the games? A tiny bit of performance increase? None?

#12
cvaldes

From what I can tell, these "game ready" drivers address stability issues (i.e., less crashing) and weird graphical artifacts more than performance unless the latter is explicitly stated in the release notes.

After all, it's really up to third party developers to optimize their code for the released driver software. This is not specific to videogame titles.

Ah, so this is why Nvidia needs RTX IO - because they can't handle DirectStorage properly

means they were verified to work with the game, ready for launch day.
Things used to be rough in the past with AAA titles broken for weeks to months

AMD gets plenty of scorn almost daily from comments on Wccftech.
