In this guide, we'll explore how to build a melee-focused play style that can even land you at the top of the leaderboard. While this guide is primarily focused on melee play, many of the tips and strategies can be applied to non-melee play as well.

Building Your Primary Weapon
To create a pure melee build, prioritize attachments that maximize your sprint speed. The current weapon that can reach the speed cap of 11.3 m/s is the M4 assault rifle. This build provides a 74% boost, theoretically increasing your sprint speed to 12 m/s. While the M4 requires level 79 to fully implement you can still reach a respectable 10.6 m/s at lower levels by using alternative attachments such as the Falcon Atlas barrel and Edge Hexon Buffer Tube stock.

Other weapons like the SIG MCX, AK and M3 also offer decent speed builds with the right attachments. Experiment with different combinations and use the racetrack on the Shooting Range to test your build and verify its effectiveness.

Selecting Your Melee Weapon
When it comes to melee weapons, katanas and swords are your best choices. They offer the same damage and attack speed as other melee weapons but have the advantage of longer range. Axes have slightly more range than knives but less than katanas and swords.

Utilizing Lethal Weapons
In situations where you can't easily reach enemies for a melee attack, grenades and thrown weapons are excellent options. Unlike firing your primary weapon, these projectiles don't hinder your sprinting abilities. You can throw grenades ahead of you and run past them ensuring you're safe from their explosion radius. Throwing grenades downwards allows for greater distance between you and the explosion, providing strategic advantages when dealing with groups of enemies.

Playing a melee-focused build requires a "glass cannon" approach. You have the ability to kill enemies with one hit, but you're also highly vulnerable. Here are some gameplay tips to maximize your effectiveness:

• Use your primary weapon for the sprint speed bonus but rely on "weapon bash" with your secondary melee weapon for attacks.
• Avoid firing your gun unless it's a guaranteed kill and you're not under attack.
• Speed is your defense so move quickly and stay out of sight.
• Jump frequently to make yourself harder to hit and take advantage of the lack of sound when you're off the ground to listen for enemy footsteps.
• Approach enemies from the sides, back or from above to catch them off guard.
• Maintain situational awareness by looking around, up, down and behind you. Utilize the game's directional audio to locate enemies.
• Evade enemy attacks by jumping, zig-zagging, changing directions and utilizing cover.
• Circle strafe and jump to make it difficult for enemies to hit you if you miss your first attack.
• In situations where you can't easily approach an enemy, use grenades or throwing knives to deal damage and then break line of sight.

Understanding the Mechanics of Speed
The current sprint speed cap is 11.3 m/s, but it may not always be consistently applied in matches. The sprint speed bonuses from attachments are additive, not multiplicative. Two attachments with a +10% sprint bonus will result in a total bonus of 1.2 times the original speed, not 1.21.

Skills to Enhance Your Play Style
In terms of skills, here are some recommendations based on personal preference:

• Skill 1 (Blue): E.O.D. Is useful for mitigating explosive damage. Quick Heal and Predator may not be as effective. Soft Landing is rarely beneficial.
• Skill 2 (Red): Sonar is helpful for locating nearby enemies. Tempered and Extra Lethal have their uses but may not be as versatile. Overcharge is of limited usefulness.
• Skill 3 (Yellow): Choose a skill that suits your play style. Agile's crouch speed boost doesn't affect sliding so it may not be useful. Quick Swap, Hunter, Sprint Reload and Power Throw are all viable options based on your preferences.

Now, let's focus on sound settings. One of the most disruptive elements in the game is the Battle Music which can hinder your focus during gameplay. It is highly recommended to lower the battle music volume to 0% for a more immersive and distraction-free experience.

Pay attention to the "Huh jump sound" option. Rather than muting it entirely, adjusting it to around 20-40 percent (depending on your overall volume settings) strikes the perfect balance. This ensures that you can still subtly hear the jump sound without it becoming overpowering or too faint during gameplay.
