There are technical aspects of the subject matter but accounting in general may require you to think in a way you've never encounter. But this does not apply to everyone and do not be intimidated by this! I made the mistake in college by not taking accounting courses due to people around me telling me it's difficult. I later went back to school for a post bachelor accounting certificate and realized that it wasn't so bad as people made it out to be. The learning curve in the beginning might be high but once you get a hold of it it's not so bad. Do give it a try with a open mind and don't let the stereotype hinder your future!

I'm probably the last person who should be answering this, but I had to take two accounting classes for my music business degree. Accounting is what businesses run on. Without knowledge of numbers (and predicting where those numbers will be at different times) is very important for budgeting, ordering necessary materials, and planning for things commonly unthought of (like how to get the most money back when selling a company vehicle). Because of all these important things riding on accountants, going to school for it will be hard. Lots of numbers, equations, and graphing/ charting your numbers to see where you are and where you are going with your company's money.

Here's the thing. All majors have hard components. The real question is- do you enjoy the work accountants do? If you find numbers interesting or enjoy predicting budgets and deciding how money should be spent, then Accounting is definitely something you should think about doing. Every college student will say they have the hardest major. That doesn't matter. Do what you love and then the work, while difficult, will be rewarding. That's the ultimate goal.
