This pork roll egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is a New Jersey staple and it's also one of my favorite ways to start the day. It's loaded with crispy pork roll (aka taylor ham), a fried egg, lots of cheese and it's all piled onto a kaiser bun or hard roll.
Salty, crispy, and greasy in the most delightful hangover-bashing sense, pork roll is most commonly eaten as a breakfast sandwich, with egg and cheese on a bagel or kaiser roll—a setup so singular in this pocket of the world that it inspired a Ween song.
The Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich is designated as the New Jersey State Sandwich.
The most popular types of NJ sandwiches (in no particular order) are Clubs, Hoagies, Sloppy Joes, Cheesesteaks, and Italian Subs.

Pork Roll. This might be New Jersey's most iconic food. Created by John Taylor back in 1856, this pork-based meat product is typically sliced and pan-fried or grilled, then used in a breakfast sandwich with eggs and cheese (but it's not limited to breakfast—we've seen it used in everything from burgers to ice cream!).
The Garden State is the blueberry capital of our country, so it should come as no surprise that New Jersey has claimed it as the official state fruit. Sandy, acidic soil along the coast is ideal for growing the beautiful berries.
There are minor variations depending on the deli, but it is always a double decker thin sliced rye bread sandwich made with one or more types of sliced deli meat, such as turkey, ham, pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, or sliced beef tongue, along with Swiss cheese, coleslaw, and Russian dressing.

The only acceptable use of the word gravy is to describe what goes on top of your turkey. But, for some reason New Jersey Italians love to refer to sauce as gravy. How did that become a thing? Some people believe that when sauce stands alone, it can be called sauce, but when meat is added, it becomes gravy.
What is ham called in New Jersey?
John Taylor created pork roll in Trenton, New Jersey. He originally sold his pork product under the name Taylor Ham, which is what North Jersey still calls it today. However, Taylor wasn't the only one making pork roll.

What is a New Jersey style pizza?

It's similar to Philadelphia's except that its crust isn't as thick, and it's round instead of square. The dough is topped with cheese, vegetables or meat, and a chunky sauce made from lightly crushed tomatoes—in that order so the tomato sauce comes last (hence the “Trenton tomato pie” name).
Manwich, slush burger, yum yums, dynamite, spoonburgers, tavern sandwich; a Sloppy Joe can be called by many other names. The most well-known however is Manwich.
