Live-Action Fairly OddParents Revival

Combining live-action and animation, the 13-episode first season ofThe Fairly OddParents will pick up years after the original series ended and follow Timmy Turner’s cousin, Vivian “Viv” Turner, and her new stepbrother, Roy Ragland, as they navigate life in Dimmsdale with the help of their fairy godparents, Wanda and Cosmo. Production on the series commenced in Los Angeles during summer 2021. The series is produced byNickelodeonStudios andParamount+.
In The Fairly OddParents, Ty Turner uproots his life to reunite with his high school sweetheart, Rachel Ragland, in the town of Dimmsdale, thrusting his cautious 13-year-old daughter, Viv, into a new world where she does not fit in. Once there, her cousin, Timmy, entrusts his fairy godparents, Wanda and Cosmo, to help her adjust by taking her under their wings. Witnessing the fairy transfer take place, Viv’s new stepbrother, Roy, also inherits them and the two siblings must come together to overcome the obstacles in their path, all with the help from their new wand-wielding and wish-granting fairy godparents.

Nickelodeon’s new live-action buddy comedy series Warped! is set to premiere Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The show follows two employees of a popular comic book shop, Warped!, who learn to embrace their differences, become best friends and set off to create the world’s greatest graphic novel. The series was announced duringNickelodeon's Upfront 2021presentation.
In Warped!, Milo (Anton Starkman), the beloved head geek at a popular strip-mall comic book shop, Warped!, finds his world disrupted when his boss hires a new employee. With the quirky and excitable Ruby (Kate Godfrey, All That) now on the payroll, the two form an unlikely alliance to create the world’s greatest graphic novel. Joining them in their adventures are Darby (Ariana Molkara, Septembers of Shiraz), a smart and fashion-forward friend who is always there to lend a hand, and Hurley (Christopher Martinez, Timmy Failure), a neighboring pizza shop employee who spends his time coming up with brilliant culinary creations. Not much is currently known about the show, however, it'll be aimed at kids 6-11, and will be in the vein of the 2019 live-action feature film Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which follows an older Dora! The Garcias (The Brothers Garcia Revival Series)

The Garcias return in a brand new revival series!
The new iteration finds the Garcia children grown up and gathering with their parents for a three-month summer vacation in a luxury home by the beach. It is a slice of life of an American family that just happens to be Latino.
The six core original cast members will reprise their roles: Ada Maris (Nurses) and Carlos Lacamara (Nurses) are returning in their roles as parents Sonia and Ray Garcia. Alvin Alvarez, Jeffrey Licon and Bobby Gonzalez are back as brothers Larry, Carlos and George, as is Vaneza Pitynski as sister Lorena. John Leguizamo was also featured as the narrator and the voice of the adult Larry Garcia, but it's unclear at this time if he'll be involved in The Garcias.

Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix Series

The series will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbenderreimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback's Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Goi, Roseanne Liang (also a co-executive producer), Jabbar Raisani and Jet Wilkinson direct.

The misadventures of Big Nate are coming to Paramount+. The all-new animated series from Nickelodeon Animation Studio is based on the best-selling children’s books and comic strip written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce. Set to debut early next year on Paramount+ in the U.S., Latin America, Canada, and Australia, the eponymous 26-episode series follows Nate, a precocious 11-year-old boy, and his best friends as they navigate sixth grade with humor and style.
Paramount+’s Big Nate animated series will feature brand-new original storylines centered on Nate, a sixth-grade kid who has a never-ending need to prove his awesomeness to the world. Max & the Midknights (20 episodes) follows a determined 10-year-old girl named Max, who pursues her dream of becoming a knight by leading her friends on an epic adventure in the fantastical medieval kingdom of Byjovia. The series is based on the best-selling children’s book series written and drawn by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce.

The hijinks of best friends Rock, Paper and Scissors will soon unfold on Nickelodeon!
Rock, Paper, Scissors (20 episodes) brings the iconic childhood game to life! This character-driven comedy follows the hilarious shenanigans of roommates Rock, Paper, and Scissors on their hijinks and ridiculous adventures. Rock, the moral compass of the group, is always struggling at his dream of becoming a model; Paper is an inventor and the brains of the group (if by “brains” you mean “making stuff that’s always blowing up”); and Scissors is the wannabe cool guy whose ego brings an endless fountain of chaos to these three friends. No matter how much they compete and mess with each other, at the end of the day, they will always bond over their shared love of one thing: wacky nonsense.

Transformers

Nickelodeon and Hasbro’s Entertainment One (eOne) announced in February that have partnered to co-produce an original animated Transformers series (26 half-hour episodes), based on the iconic global property. In the action-comedy series, a new species of Transformers must find their place and purpose among Autobots, Decepticons, and the human family that adopts them. The series will premiere exclusively on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in 2022 before rolling out internationally.
The all-new animated Transformers series is executive produced by Ant Ward (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Nicole Dubuc (Transformers: Rescue Bots) and developed and co-executive produced by Dale Malinowski (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the series is developed for television by Spinelli and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Senior Director, Current Series and Development, Animation. Production will be overseen for Nickelodeon by Conrad Montgomery, Vice President, Current Series, Animation and for eOne by Mikiel Houser, Director of TV Development. Phoebe and Her Unicorn

Nickelodeon has reportedly won the rights in a competitive situation to Dana Simpson’s comic strip Phoebe and Her Unicorn, a property that the ViacomCBS studio is eyeing as a multi-platform franchise across an TV animated series, movies and more. The final deal points are still to be announced.
Phoebe and her Unicorn follows 9-year-old Phoebe Howell, a girl in the fourth grade, who deals with childhood challenges alongside her unicorn Marigold, friend Max and enemy Dakota. Phoebe meets Marigold after skipping a rock across a pond, accidentally hitting the unicorn in the face. Freed from her own reflection, the unicorn—named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils—gives Phoebe one wish, which she decides to use by making the unicorn her best friend. Marigold has magical powers, i.e. she can divert or redirect rain and send text messages and broadcast a Wi-Fi hotspot through her horn. Her most highly coveted power though is her “Shield of Boringness” spell, which causes humans to view her as nothing out of the ordinary and allows her to interact with them on a daily basis. Garfield

Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIA.B), through one of its subsidiaries, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Paws, Inc., the entity holding global intellectual property rights to the Garfield and the U.S. Acres (a.k.a. Orson’s Farm) franchises--including corresponding rights related to content, consumer products, and location-based experiences. The deal will see Nickelodeon develop a new Garfield animated television series, as well as new Garfield content for all platforms for a new generation of fans.

Meet the Voxels

Nickelodeon originally announced the development of Meet the Voxels (working title), an original TV, virtual reality and augmented reality series conceived by Chris Young, Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, in August 2018. The animated sitcom, created in a game engine, marks a first for Nickelodeon in its use of cutting-edge virtual cinema technology, including real-time full body and facial performance capture, bringing an innovative approach to immersive storytelling. Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab is the network’s division established to spearhead long-range research and development around emerging platforms and new technology. Meet the Voxels is being developed to air across Nickelodeon’s channels globally.
The series will feature an African-American and Latinx family where everyone is from a different video game.
Meet the Voxels takes kids behind the scenes of a video game world and follows a family of video-game characters, the Voxels, on their adventures on-and-off-duty. When the project was first announced, the family members were named: Hunter, the 13-year-old star of a laser-tag video game; Maude, a 16-year-old girl fighting to pop as many bubbles as she can; their younger brother Cody who has not found his video game calling yet; Mom, a popular street fighter in her game; and Dad, a 90’s-era classic console game character who quit the business years ago. Earlier this year, Nickelodeon announced the launch of Avatar Studios, a newly formed division designed to create original content spanning animated series and movies based on the beloved world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Original creators and executive producers Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are helming the studio as co-chief creative officers, reporting to Ramsey Naito,President of Animation, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. The Studio’s output will bow on platforms including Paramount+, ViacomCBS’ subscription video on-demand service; on Nickelodeon’s own linear and digital platforms; as well as on third-party platforms and in theaters.
The first project from Avatar Studios is slated as an animated theatrical film set to begin production this year. Not much is currently known about the movie, however, the Studio is reportedly creating a new animation style for the projects.[more info]

As part of Nickelodeon's effort's to expand the SpongeBob Universe, the network is producing a spin-off movie based on Sandy Cheeks, one of SpongeBob's close friends! Not much is currently known about the film, however, it will feature CG-animated and live-action scenes. The main SpongeBob series won't go on a production hiatus whilst the movie is in production, unlike the show's first two theatricals. Nickelodeon plans to eventually have a spin-off series or movie for each of the main cast.
It's currently unknown whether The Sandy Cheeks Movie is being made for a theatrical release, a linear TV premiere or a streaming service such as Paramount+. Nickelodeon's last SpongeBob Movie, Sponge on the Run was originally slated for theaters, however, ViacomCBS moved the film to Paramount+ due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. [more info]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter

The world’s most fearsome fighting team began as a joke in 1983, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have had serious success ever since. Countless comic books, television shows, films, and video games have shown the group’s lasting appeal. So it’s no surprise they’re gearing up for another big screen adventure. Nickelodeon is teaming up with Seth Rogen on an all-new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Nickelodeon first announced it is partnering with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver to develop a new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in June 2020. It will also be Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s first-ever CG theatrical release. Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, Connected, Disenchantment) will direct. Brendan O’Brian (Neighbors, Sorority Rising) will write the script. Nickelodeon’s Executive Vice President Ramsey Naito will lead the production for Nickelodeon, alongside Point Grey Pictures’s Josh fa*gen. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film globally.
The new movie will arrive in theatres on August 11, 2023.
Plot details for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remain under wraps, but Rogen previously revealed that the film will use the "teenage" part of the title as the "jumping off point for the film." [more info]

Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) is going to voice the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating comic strip cat Garfield in a new animated movie.
Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson’s Alcon Entertainment is behind the new still-untitled Garfield, which has been picked up for worldwide (excluding China) release by Sony Pictures. The script written by Oscar nominee David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) is being directed by Mark Dindal (Wonder Park, Chicken Little). Plot details are still to be announced.

Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) and his brother Casey (Impractical Jokers) are reportedly working on a brand new live-action Untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film for Paramount Pictures.
Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker are on as producers. Like the past two installments, plot details are being kept under wraps outside of the film revolving around everyone’s favorite pizza-eating, nunchuck-swinging life-sized turtles. But the film will revolve around the martial arts master superhero turtles in their fight against the evil Shredder and their love of pizza. [more info]

CBS Sports and Nickelodeon are getting kids and families into the game with a special slime-filled presentation of the National Football League’s Wild Card game on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 4:30 p.m. (ET). The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon will showcase one-of-a-kind kid-focused content and Nick-themed elements throughout, including a special halftime presentation, guest reporters, original on-field graphics, virtual filters, and more for kids and families.
Following the success of last season’s Sports Emmy Award-winning production, the NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon returns with CBS Sports’ analyst and former NFL star Nate Burleson, play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle and Nick star Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (That Girl Lay Lay, All That) reprising their roles in the booth, while Nick star Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan) makes his sideline reporting debut.
The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon will be streamed via the NFL app on mobile for free. The NFL Wild Card Game on Nickelodeon will air alongside CBS Sports’ coverage of the game, which will be available on The CBS Television Network. CBS Sports’ telecast will also be streamed across digital devices via Paramount+, the CBS Sports app, NFL digital properties, and on mobile on the participating teams’ mobile properties and Yahoo Sports.

Nickelodeon’s TV special--executive produced by Trevor Noah (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), who also served as host in 2020--will highlight five honorees, with one outstanding kid ultimately being recognized as TIME Kid of the Year, and featured on the cover of TIME and in additional coverage in TIME For Kids.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Square Enix has announced plans for a brand new mobile game inspired by Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender!
The new Avatar game is being developed by Square Enix London Mobile, Square Enix's new London-based studio with a focus on developing high-quality, free-to-play mobile games, and Navigator Games, another mobile games studio.
We don't yet know what the gameplay will look like for the Avatar game. However, Navigator Games' last project, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, was a turn-based fantasy RPG.

A release date has yet to be announced.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge reunites Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello to kick shell in a beautifully realized pixel art world invoking the turtles’ classic 1987 design.

Nickelodeon is set to release Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis, a brand new family-friendly mobile game that brings together characters from every corner of the Nickelodeon Universe to compete in a tennis tournament on Apple Arcade, Apple's subscription-based gaming service, very soon!
Nickelodeon characters featured in the game include SpongeBob SquarePants, Garfield, retro Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Angelica from classic Rugrats, CatDog, Arnold and Helga from Hey Arnold!, Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life, Invader ZIM, and Danny Phantom.
A multiplayer mode pits players against each other against Nickelodeon-themed backdrops like Bikini Bottom, ZIM's secret base, and the TMNT rooftops, and there is also a single-player story mode where players are tasked with advancing through unique challenges for each character. Players can also earn outfits and rackets to customize their characters. Fans are sure to love this game!
Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis will be available on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. No specific release date has been shared yet for the game, but Apple Arcade subscribers can sign up to be notified when the game becomes available by tapping on the "Notify Me" button in the game's listing on the App Store.
