How To Get (& Use) Sussur Bloom In Baldur’s Gate 3 (2024)

Sussur Blooms are rare blue flowers found deep in the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3. These flowers have powerful anti-magic properties that make them essential for certain quests, and with a bit of care, players can also use them in combat. However, the Underdark is a dangerous place filled with enemies and environmental hazards, so it can help to know exactly where to look.

The party first journeys into the Underdark towards the end of Act One. It’s highly recommended that you have one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s strongest party compositions when exploring here, as several creatures and monsters can prove deadly for the unprepared. There are two main areas where Sussur Blooms can be found, but each has its own dangers.

The first and perhaps most obvious place to find Sussur Blooms is near the Sussur Tree. The Tree is located west of the Myconid Colony, which the party may have stumbled across when exploring, and north of the Decrepit Village.Finding Sussur Tree Bark is an essential step for crafting a Masterwork Weapon for the Finish the Masterwork side quest.

The advantage of searching near the Sussur Tree is that it’s generally easy to find. However, this area has several dangers, including tough Hook Horror monsters. The party will also need to fight Filro the Forgotten, a crazed wizard who serves as a hidden mini-boss for this area. Sussur Blooms can be found growing on the edges of the chasm and on the tree itself.

The second area where Sussur Blooms can be found is in the Arcane Tower, southwest of the Decrepit Village and the Selunite Outpost. The Tower has tough magical defenses, a clockwork boss enemy, and lots of interesting magical loot. In fact, Sussur Blooms can be used to activate the Tower’s magical elevator.

Sussur Blooms can be found in a small garden at the base of the Arcane Tower. The garden can only be reached by navigating down through the Tower. There’s a small section where players must navigate the tower's exterior by jumping between mushrooms. Having Feather Fall, Misty Step, or Dimension Door can make this much easier.

After grabbing a Sussur Bloom from the garden, you must enter the Tower’s bottom floor again. This can be done by picking the lock on the door. Characters of certain races may also be able to fit in one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Burrow Holes.

The main use of Sussur Blooms is to activate the Arcane Tower’s elevator. However, the anti-magic field they give off also negates everything magical within a certain range. Inside the field, spellcasters can’t cast their spells.

There are ways to use this in combat, such as tossing a Sussur Bloom toward an enemy spellcaster to shut down their abilities. Sussur Blooms can also be carried, but this is less than ideal as they can also shut down friendly spellcasters.

Sussur Blooms wilt and become unusable outside the Underdark, so their unique effects only work underground. However, there’s lots to explore underground in Baldur’s Gate 3, so it’s worth considering carrying these special flowers.
